The ABC’s of Taking Care of Inflamed Joints

We aren’t trying to brag, but when it comes to joints and inflammation, we are your number one source. Because the last thing we want is for you to feel achy, inflamed joints when you’re trying to do something as simple as walking up and down your stairs, we decided to come up with a list of a few easy ways for you to remember how to get rid of inflammation. Let’s go over our version of the ABC’s.

Anti-inflammatory Drugs

As long as you aren’t on any existing blood thinners and you’ve been given the “okay” by your doctor, anti-inflammatories are a must for joint inflammation and pain relief. Plus, one of the great things about anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen and Motrin is that they are non-habit forming so you won’t have to worry about any adverse side effects. Just make sure that you take them as directed by us or another physician.

Baths

Another thing that you can do for your inflamed joints is to take hot and cold baths. Depending on where you are seeing the most inflammation, a bath may make more sense than using ice packs. Fro sentence, if you have a lot of inflammation in your legs and your feet, then sitting in a cold bath and then switching to a hot bath can do wonders. Sometimes the combination of hot and cold is enough to help alleviate pain and inflammation without having to shock your system with an ice bath.

Compression

Another thing that you can do to help alleviate swelling in your point is to wear compression device. For instance, if you are suffering from a lot of knee inflammation, we may recommend that you wear a knee compression to help stabilize the joint and alleviate the pressure. The trick to choosing a compression device is to choose one that has enough pressure, but that won’t cut off the circulation.
